On 10 December 2025, a federal judge authorised a three-month extension of the supplementary investigation period in the criminal proceedings against boxer Julio César Chávez González, who is accused of organised crime and alleged links to the Sinaloa Cartel. The hearing took place at the Federal Criminal Justice Centre in Hermosillo, Sonora, where the boxer appeared in person.
